Q&A with Charlie
What experience do you have working with families?
Involving families is part of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and an ongoing aspect of treatment, as parents and caregivers exert the greatest environmental influence on a child. I strive to establish a therapeutic and collaborative relationship not only with the child but with parents and caregivers as well.
What inspired you to become a therapist?
I have lived experience of raising a son with a serious mental illness growing up. I aspire to use that lived experience to walk with children and their families to help children overcome mental health challenges in their formative years of human development.
What are your strengths?
Both my lived experience as a parent and my prior career as an internal auditor gave me the compassion and curiosity to identify the evolving contributing factors to mental health conditions. I do this by using the bio-psycho-social-cultural/spiritual framework and develop a team-based comprehensive treatment plan accordingly.
What else would you like families to know about you?
I'm a father of two young adult sons.
